About TPG Rise Climate
TPG Rise Climate is the dedicated climate investing strategy of TPG's broader impact investing platform, focused exclusively on deploying private equity capital at scale into companies developing and commercializing climate solutions across global markets. The strategy operates across three complementary capital pools — a flagship private equity fund (TPG Rise Climate I and II, with aggregate target commitments of approximately $10 billion across both funds), a Transition Infrastructure strategy targeting value-added infrastructure investments in climate-related assets, and a Global South Initiative fund targeting approximately $1 billion in climate opportunities across India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Sector coverage spans five core climate themes: energy transition, green mobility, sustainable fuels, sustainable materials and products, and carbon solutions, with cross-cutting subsector activity in clean electrons, clean molecules, and negative emissions technologies. Transaction types include leveraged buyouts (approximately 50 percent of the flagship fund), growth equity investments (approximately 35 percent), and structured equity (approximately 15 percent), with equity investments of $150 million or more per transaction in companies with revenues of at least $100 million, primarily in OECD markets (approximately 70 percent) with opportunistic allocations to non-OECD geographies. The strategy integrates impact measurement through TPG's affiliated impact assessment platform, Y Analytics, with portfolio companies evaluated on estimated carbon yield per dollar of equity deployed. Former U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson, Jr. serves as Executive Chairman of TPG Rise Climate, and TPG Founding Partner Jim Coulter serves as Managing Partner. Launched in 2021 as part of the broader TPG Rise platform established in 2016, the strategy is managed by TPG, a global alternative asset management firm headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, United States, with additional offices across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
