OMERS Infrastructure (formerly Borealis Infrastructure) is the infrastructure investment advisory and management arm of OMERS, the pension plan for municipal employees in the Province of Ontario, Canada, operating as part of the broader OMERS Private Markets platform alongside OMERS Private Equity. The firm makes long-term, direct equity and debt investments in large-scale infrastructure assets exhibiting stability and strong cash flows, with sector coverage spanning energy, digital services and telecommunications, transportation, social and health infrastructure, water and wastewater, and other government-regulated services. Transaction types include direct infrastructure equity investments, structured debt financings, and co-investments alongside third-party capital partners through its Strategic Partnership Program (SPP), a global third-party capital platform that has grown to more than C$6.6 billion in invested capital across 13 investments with 18 strategic co-investors over its first decade. The firm pursues both control and significant minority ownership positions in infrastructure assets, applying a long-hold investment philosophy consistent with its pension fund ownership structure rather than a fixed fund life, and works in partnership with co-investors such as in its DCLI chassis-leasing investment, which brought in four additional Strategic Partnership Program participants. OMERS Infrastructure maintains a global footprint across North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, and Australia, supporting the broader OMERS pension plan, which reported approximately C$128.6 billion in net assets as of December 2023. Founded in 1999 as Borealis Infrastructure, the firm is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with an additional office in New York, New York, United States.
